About Dean Hatton
Dean is a Founding and Co-Managing Partner at Las Olas Venture Capital. He serves as a Board Director at CarePredict, configure8, Medxoom, ReloQuest, Otto, OneRail, and Preteckt, and as a Board Observer at EcoMap.Prior to founding LOVC, Dean gained 35 years of company operating and executive experience leading, building, capitalizing, acquiring, merging, and re-structuring multiple businesses at every stage and of varied sizes, from VC-backed startups to Fortune 50 international organizations. Dean believes that sharing his experiences with portfolio company founders is the most important aspect of his role at LOVC. Like the entire LOVC team, he prides himself on being accessible, responsive, and helpful to company founders. Dean is a seasoned entrepreneur and investor, co-founded LOVC with a vision to support and empower B2B founders.
About Mark Volchek
Mark is a Founding and Co-Managing Partner at Las Olas Venture Capital. He serves as a Board Member at Mosaic, Bainbridge, Leverage, and OpenReel, and as a Board Observer at Leasecake, Rotabull, and UserInterviews. Prior to founding LOVC, Mark spent 15 years as CFO, Chairman, and then CEO of Higher One, a company he co-founded in 2000 while a senior at college. He successfully steered the company through multiple rounds of venture funding and a successful IPO in 2010. While at Higher One, Mark won EY Entrepreneur of the Year in 2010 and was a finalist for the award in 2011. When Mark left Higher One in 2014, their products and services supported more than 1,900 schools and approximately 13 million enrolled students. Mark currently serves on the executive committee of Florida Venture Forum as their Program Chair and is also Vice Chair of the Fort Lauderdale Aviation Advisory Board. He previously served as Director of the Founder Institute in South Florida, helping budding entrepreneurs start their companies. He has also personally angel-invested in over thirty companies since 2008. Mark enjoys flying airplanes, scuba diving, and traveling the world in his free time. Mark received a B.A. and M.A. in Economics from Yale University, where he founded the Yale Entrepreneurial Society.
About Nate Vasel
Nate is a Partner at Las Olas Venture Capital. He serves as a Board Director at Letterhead, EcoMap, and Leasecake, and as a Board Observer at OneRail, Mosaic, Leverage, and Otto. Nate joined LOVC in 2016 prior to the launch of Fund I as the firm's first hire. He now focuses on leading investments into early-stage B2B software companies. Over the past decade, as an investor, Nate has led numerous early-stage investments for the firm, with a particular interest in verticalized AI workflow tools and supply chain technology. Prior to joining LOVC, Nate held a variety of positions in both venture capital and private equity funds. As a licensed attorney, his background focused on corporate transactions and securities regulation. Given his expertise, he also supervises the firm's legal and fund administration operations. Outside of the office, Nate is also an avid horror movie aficionado, car enthusiast, and amateur pizza chef. Nate holds a JD/MBA degree from Washington University in St. Louis with a specialization in finance and entrepreneurship. He is also a licensed member of the Missouri Bar.
About Asif Khan
Asif is a Senior Associate at LOVC based in New York. Prior to joining the fund, Asif spent time working in financial services at J.P.Morgan and Blackstone. Asif holds a B.A degree in Computer Science and Economics from Brown University. While at Brown, Asif served as the Director of Van Wickle Ventures, where he led investments in startups founded in the Brown ecosystem. In his free time, you can find Asif birdwatching with his cat Bloo, searching for the best iced mocha in NYC, and listening to live music.
About Scott Lefkowitz
Scotty Lefkowitz is a Senior Associate at LOVC. Scotty comes to the firm from the University of Chicago, where he was a Booth scholar and graduated cum laude with a degree in Psychology. Scotty also previously founded Ludite, a screen time reduction startup that went through the Polsky Accelerator and New Venture Challenge at the University of Chicago. Scotty loves jam bands, cream-based deserts, Christmas music, credit card rewards, mountain sports, and hates chiropractors and walking fast.
About Zach Rubin
Zach Rubin is the Platform Manager at LOVC. Zach comes to the firm from Tulane University, where he graduated magna cum laude with degrees in Business Management, Architecture Design, and Asian Studies/Chinese. He was the President of the Business Student Government at Tulane University and has co-founded two startups and brings experience from Techstars, Loeb.nyc, and Ripple Ventures. Zach is a RYT-200 yoga instructor, designer, programmer, amateur chef, and frequent runner.
